The fifth view

The exhibition „The fifth view – of cupola roofs, shells, domes, roofs and their engineers“ presents more than 30 imposing roof projects from the ancient times up until today. The constructions of contemporary architecture show how solutions for roofs worldwide became more and more spectacular and experimental thanks to computer-assisted design and the development of new materials.

One of these exemplary constructions is the inner-dome of the Autobahn Church Siegerland: from a formerly round dome schneider+schumacher created a delicate structure of wood ribs which optimizes material and construction to the very last detail through parametric design.

The exhibition is presented by the cooperation of the Oskar von Miller Forum in Munich and the M:AI Museum for Architecture and Engineering Art NRW Tuesdays to Sundays, 12:00 AM to 6:00 PM, until the 27th of November. The entry is free of charge.
